Baroness Perry was formerly Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Schools in England. After her education at Girton College, Cambridge University, she became a teacher and philosophy lecturer, working in England, Canada and the United States. In 1986, she became The Vice Chancellor of South Bank University (formerly Polytechnic) and thus the first woman to ever run a British university. She has held many roles in higher education, including President of Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge University, where she also founded a Centre for Women Leaders.
