Professor Valerie Gibson is one of the country’s leading female scientists. She is currently Head of High Energy Physics at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow and Director of Studies at Trinity College. Previously she has held a physics fellowship at CERN, a five-year SERC (now PPARC) Advanced Fellowship, the Stokes Senior Research Fellowship at Cambridge’s Pembroke College and a Leverhulme Trust Royal Society Fellowship. She was the UK Spokesperson for the LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider in CERN during the construction and first data-taking phase. In 2013, she was awarded the Women in Science and Engineering Leader award for her work championing and encouraging female scientists.
