Professor Janet Todd is an internationally-renowned scholar of the eighteenth-century Enlightenment and a pioneer of the study of early women’s writing. She founded the first journal devoted to women and literature. In 2008, she became the seventh President of Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge.
Janet Todd has taught in Ghana, the USA, Puerto Rico, England and Scotland. She co-founded the MA in Life-writing at the University of East Anglia and is now an emerita professor of the University of Aberdeen.
Janet Todd has published and edited more than 38 books, including biographies of Mary Wollstonecraft and Aphra Behn. Her latest editorial and critical work has focussed on Jane Austen and her times. She was awarded an OBE in 2013 for her services to higher education and literary scholarship.
