“Someone on a journey. Who’s trying to accept she’s not worthless.” Feminist campaigner Caroline Criado-Perez made her name in 2013 when The Bank of England announcing it would be putting Jane Austen on the £10 note, as a result of her efforts. She is a freelance journalist who writes for the Guardian, the New Statesman and The Times, among others. Caroline also co-founded The Women’s Room, a database of expert women to challenge the inequality of gender representation in the media. Caroline studied at Oxford University and is currently completing and MSc in Gender at LSE. Alongside her freelance writing, she is a regular fixture on television and radio, and was featured in the Independent on Sunday’s 2013 Happy List. In her Features video, Caroline told us how the internet has changed the landscape of equality: ‘What’s so amazing… is that it provides women with route into what they want to do, and it gives them a voice, and they don’t need anyone to give them permission for that.’
