How does where you live shape who you are?

I live in London and I can safely say that London has saved my life. I don't think I would feel as free or as expressive as I do here, if I lived anywhere else. I am originally from Ireland and I have travelled extensively but I have never found anywhere that lets me feel anonymous and at home and part of something all at the same time. In London I can go out and dress scruffily. I can chop all my hair off. I can decide to experiment with my sexuality. Whatever it might be and I am free to do so. I truly have a love affair with the city in which I live and I believe it defines who I am.
