Age: What I See meets… Jill Shaw Ruddock, founder of the Second Half Centre

Age: What I See meets… Jill Shaw Ruddock, founder of the Second Half Centre 'I think we have to be kinder to ourselves. I think we have to be more accepting.'

As soon as we decided to spend May exploring age and female identity, we knew we had to speak to Jill Shaw Ruddock. She is the accomplished banker-turned-philanthropist, who set up the Second Half Foundation and the Second Half Centre in leafy Kensington: a place where the over 50s can come to combat loneliness and learn new skills. Jill has also written ‘The Second Half of Your Life’, a book explaining how women can enjoy the menopause and ageing process.

We sat down with Jill in her home to talk about menopause, loneliness, successful ageing... and (of course), what she sees in the mirror.
