Meet the ambassadors: Jude Watson

Today we’ll be introducing you to the second of our Crown Prosecution Service ambassadors. All of them are amazing women who’ve worked for years to see justice done and make the collective lives of their communities better.

Jude Watson is the Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy Manager at the CPS. Which – though ‘rather a mouthful’ – means she is an advisor to the prosecution service around lots of issues relating to violence against women.

In her Features video, Jude tells her story: from being disciplined for protesting in favour of porters’ rights in the hospital she worked in as a scientist when she was 21, to entering the justice system to fight for women’s rights 10 years ago.

‘There is something that’s very deep and profound in every single being, and that when we connect to that, our journey is more of a true journey about who we are and what we are… Starting off as a scientist, I felt that everything was completely logical. And life’s experiences showed me there was a lot more to us as human beings.’

And what does Jude see when she looks in the mirror?

‘I see an older woman who was blessed with the opportunities of growing up in a time that I was allowed to do things that my mum was not really allowed to do… All of those choices make me think I’ve grown up in a really good time that’s given me lots of choices – and younger women even more.’
